About
Boston Dynamics is the world's most technically credentialed robotics company, with over three decades of DARPA-funded research producing iconic platforms including BigDog, Spot, and Atlas. Acquired by Hyundai Motor Group in 2021 for approximately $1.1B, Boston Dynamics now operates as a Hyundai subsidiary with Spot generating meaningful commercial revenue and Atlas Electric in advanced R&D. The company's shift from hydraulic to electric actuation for Atlas signals a deliberate move toward manufacturable, commercially viable humanoids aligned with Hyundai's factory automation ambitions.
